Holy Trinity Catholic Church (pictures to be updated)

Welcome to the site of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Stonington, Illinois. Nestled in our rural heartland just minutes from Taylorville, Holy Trinity is a welcoming Catholic faith community dedicated to serving parishioners and neighbors alike. Our parish offers opportunities for worship, fellowship, and service—anchored in the belief that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is not only preached but lived in our daily lives. While our school serves children from pre-K through 6th grade as part of the wider parish mission, Holy Trinity remains first and foremost a place where faith is nurtured, community is built, and hearts are transformed. Please take some time to explore our parish website and feel free to reach out with any questions you may have.

May God continue to bless you!

Parish History

Parish History

Prior to the establishment of Holy Trinity, the nearest parishes to Stonington were in Taylorville and Macon. In 1873, construction began on a church, but for various reasons the work was halted and Mass continue to be celebrated in private homes. In 1878, a new site was selected and on May 21, 1880 the first Holy Trinity Church was dedicated. The church was destroyed by a wind storm in 1889. The current church was dedicated on July 8, 1891.
