Parish History

Parish History

Founded in 1855, St. Mary Catholic Church is at 108 West Adams Street. The first church was a small frame building, built in the late 1840s or early 1850s. About 1872, the church was moved one block south of its original location and an addition and sacristy were added (the original church was used as the entrance for the new church). A second church was built in 1886 and the current church was dedicated on June 1, 1941.
